✉️ Personal Testimonial: Fyxer 🤖

I try to be mindful about which advertisements I take on for the newsletter - I want it all to be super relevant and interesting to you. So, as someone who HATES EMAIL, when Fyxer advertised a few weeks ago I figured I’d give them a whirl on their free trial.

The TLDR? It was cute!

Setup was really easy (only a few clicks), it applied to my many email addresses for no additional cost. Next, it auto-applied tags to all my emails with things like “To respond” or “Notifications” then drafted responses, where necessary, using my own tone and voice. While it wasn’t bang on with a lot of the copywriting logic, it was great to feel like I was drowning less and could address the important things first.

Anyways, I liked the product so they’re advertising again - give it a whirl and click to get your free trial.

I had so many DMs to a series of LinkedIn posts I made recently about how I leverage AI to help me write this very newsletter that I decided to make you a bit of a guide (you’re long overdue for a few cheat sheets).

This is going to be GenAI-focused but prompt engineering principles can be applied wherever, really.

🌙 🕌 Ramadan 2025 🏮⭐️

A Quick Guide for Inclusive Workplaces

This year, Ramadan runs from approximately February 28 to March 29 (exact dates depend on the lunar calendar and local moon sightings). During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset - meaning no food, drinks, or other consumables during daylight hours. This period is about more than just fasting; it's a time of intense spiritual reflection, increased prayer, and community service.

Here are some ways to accommodate those observing Ramadan.

  1. 📆 Meeting Mindfulness

Schedule important meetings earlier in the day when energy levels are higher, and consider offering flexible start times since many Muslims wake up pre-dawn (around 4-5am) for suhoor (morning meal). Remote work options and schedule flexibility during this period can be a game-changer, especially during those energy-dipping afternoon hours.

  2. 🤍 Create Space (Literally and Figuratively)

Designate a quiet space for prayer and rest. Muslims pray five times daily, with additional prayers during Ramadan. Just as important as physical space is mental space. Remember that not everyone may fast (due to health conditions, travel, or personal choice), so avoid assumptions and let individuals share their own practices if they choose.

  3. ✋ Rethink Team Social Time

Skip the lunch meetings and consider scheduling team celebrations either after sunset or post-Ramadan. The end of Ramadan is marked by Eid al-Fitr, a significant celebration - be flexible with time-off requests during this period and consider how your team might appropriately celebrate together.

  4. 🗣️ Keep Communication Open and Mindful

Share basic Ramadan information with your wider team, but focus on practical support rather than performative gestures. Be mindful of food-related conversations and lunch planning around fasting colleagues, and remember that genuine interest and support beat token gestures every time.

  5. ⚖️ Support Personal and Professional Balance

Recognize that energy levels may fluctuate throughout the day, and work demands might need adjusting. Encourage open dialogue about workload management and deadlines, and consider redistributing time-sensitive projects to align with peak energy periods. This isn't about lowering expectations - it's about smart scheduling and resource management.
